Just Do It!
As the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.
Nike ran a very successful ad campaign for many years with the slogan “Just Do It!” The campaign encouraged the viewer to get out there and play the sport, whatever sport, just go play it. Just do it (and buy our gear to play it).
My eyes were opened this morning as I read “Taking the Initiative Against Daydreaming (February 20)” in Oswald Chambers’ classic, My Utmost for His Highest. The reader is reminded that “daydreaming about it when we should be doing it is wrong” and that “daydreaming after God has spoken is an indication that we do not trust Him.” Jesus was always about doing his father’s work, and that included doing the work promptly to demonstrate his love for his father.
For example, the best thing that we can do when our spouses (speaking mainly to the guys here) remind us to take out the trash is to put the remote down immediately, get up off the sofa, and take it out. One of the best things we can do to honor God is to follow the lead of Jesus. When God gives us a command, just do it!
